On Friday May 31st, our neighbours Kerry Orienteers will host a local (Sprint-O style) charity event at Ross Island & Castle, Killarney. This event is just a short jog from the event centre at Killarney Racecourse. "The event will be signposted from the race course on the Ross Road. Registration will be in the car park nearest Ross Castle & Island on the left-hand-side of the approach road. Registration opens at 6pm with starts from 6:30pm to 8pm. Start & finish will be adjacent to registration. There will be three courses on offer, as follows: Long: 5.00 km Medium: 3.10 km Short: 2.35 km To liven things up a little bit(!), the long course will use a pursuit format with two people started at a time on a star course with gaffled mini-loops. For maximum fun, intending competitors are advised to pair up in advance with a friend/foe of similar ability!! The entry fees are €10 for adults, €7.50 concessions (students, unwaged, >65's), €5 <18's and €25 for families. And most importantly of all, 100% of your entry fees will be donated to the Children's Medical & Research Foundation to help fund the completion of essential upgrades to Crumlin Hospital's cancer and cardiac facilities so please help ensure a very good turnout!"
