Here's some of the feedback we've received from happy orienteers who took part in Shamrock 2011...
"Thanks for 3 great days of orienteering. Eoin & I both enjoyed the terrain, maps and courses! The chasing start today was a fun way to finish the event. We hope to come back again one day."

"THANK YOU for a great orienteering event.
It was my first Shamrock O-Ringen and it has encouraged me to return in future. I thoroughly enjoyed the open mountain terrain. The views were superb. Also enjoyed the evening quiz and talks - something you do not often get at UK multi day events
Please pass on my thanks to all involved -including the excellent mappers, planners and organisers and the tremendous band of willing volunteers without which it would not have happened.
Congratulations on a superb weekend."

"Thank you very much for a superb event the way I prefer it: Good maps, challenging orienteering and a peaceful beautiful assembly area - just like in the very, very old days in Norway. I really enjoy these events and that is why I have been back since 1994."

"It was the event I was looking forward to most out of the Big Irish 3 this year (JK/IOC/Shamrock) and I’m glad to say I was not let down. Orienteering was fantastic on all 3 days, the new areas really added to the event and to the Sheeps Head. They gave a different feel to each day. The running got faster as each day passed, which helped, so the order in which the areas were used worked well. The fact that the last day was closest to parking was another plus, legs were tired and it was cold. In my opinion the orienteering (maps+courses) was definitely better on the Sheeps Head than at the JK or IOC. In reality how could areas in Wicklow or Down even think that they could compare to a Shamrock area.
The effort that was put in by the club was immense, everything ran smoothly, and I’m not aware of any complaints. I remember back in 2007 issues with trying to get start times for Day 3 sorted, but lessons were learned and start times this year were ready for the start of the talks on Sunday night.
The words that Arthur Boyt spoke at the prizegiving are very true. Credit should be given to the members of CorkO who did not get to run last weekend. I can count myself lucky to be one of the few from CorkO who got to run on all 3 days."
-- Darren Burke (CORKO, IRE), Winner M21E
